Aesthetic Modernisation of the Dolphin Shopping Centre Scenic Lift

Originally opened in 1969 and previously known as the Arndale Centre, the Dolphin Shopping Centre is Poole’s principal shopping location, housing 126 well-known national and independent retail stores and eateries. To provide floor-to-floor transport for visitors, the centre has four passenger lifts and four escalators. One of the passenger lifts is fully glazed, providing an architectural feature in the centre’s atrium.

This highly visual and important lift had started to look tired, and the tactile user interfaces were looking worn. As a result, Jackson was asked to participate in a tendering process for a full aesthetic modernisation of the lift. This included cleaning of the glass panels, new LED light fittings, a new car operating panel, landing pushes and door operators.

After submitting our tender and subsequent meetings with the Centre’s management team and consultants, our tender and programme of works were approved.

This is the second lift modernisation Jackson engineers, working from our Wimborne Offices, have successfully undertaken at Dolphin Shopping Centre Poole.
