Jack Crawford House, Sunderland

Project details:

  • Lift Modernisation

Jackson has recently undertaken lift modernisation work at Jack Crawford House in Sunderland.

Up until late 2021, Jack Crawford House was the principal location for Sunderland City Council, when the council moved most of its staff to the newly built five storey Civic Centre in the new Central Business District. Jack Crawford House has been having an eco-friendly upgrade as part of Sunderland Council’s commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030 as part of its City Plan, including the lift modernisation that Jackson undertook.

Our work related to the modernisation of a three-story traction lift, which included the installation of a new machine and controller in the motor room, shaft wiring and new safety gears. To improve the user experience of the lift, we replaced the car door operator, doors and architraves and fitted a new car interior, including a car operating panel.

Jackson engineers working from our Newcastle Offices worked closely with Sunderland Council’s building maintenance department to ensure minimum disruption was caused during our programme of works to those working at and visiting Jack Crawford House.
