Modernisation of Hydraulic Lifts in Retirement Development

Many owners and managers of multi-storey residential properties that had hydraulic lifts installed over 20 years ago are now benefiting from improved energy efficiencies and reliability as a result of a hydraulic modernisation that uses the latest technologies and equipment.

Across the country, Jackson has been modernising hydraulic lifts that serve two- to four-storey residential properties for a range of customers, including those in the private, social housing and care home sectors.

In the private sector, we have recently completed a hydraulic lift modernisation in a three-storey retirement development in Bristol, originally built in 1999. The one-, two- and three-bedroom high-quality apartments are all privately owned.

The development is managed by a South of England based specialist retirement housing management company which was conversant with the type of hydraulic lifts installed at the property. As with most projects, Jackson was asked to quote for the modernisation. In this instance, our Bristol-based engineering team responded to the request and arranged to undertake a site survey and subsequently discussed the project with the management company’s representatives.

Following our site survey and customer meetings, we submitted a proposal for the removal of some of the existing hydraulic equipment, replacing it with a new energy-efficient hydraulic lift package which included a new lift controller, tank, and valve.

Our Bristol Sales Engineers were delighted to hear that we had won the modernisation contract.

As the block was fully occupied during our works, Jackson engineers, operating from our facilities in Bristol, took great care to overcome any disruption and inconvenience to the residents during the modernisation, which included a new hydraulic valve and lift control system. Additionally, we also installed new landing and car signalisation and rewired the entire lift installation.

With the modernisation complete, residents are now benefiting from improved reliability and floor levelling of the lift.
