Residential Lift Modernisation

Jackson is proud of our work with a well-known West of England Housing Association that has a diverse portfolio of affordable homes and care services for older and disabled people, as well as those affected by mental health issues or memory loss. Our relationship dates to 2016, when we were first awarded a maintenance contract for the association’s lifts.

Subsequently, we have undertaken various life cycle cost exercises on a wide range of the association’s lifts and have undertaken lift modernisation works under a separate fixed price tender that spanned several years, with an uplift clause for modernisation work undertaken after 4 years from the tender submission.

The modernisations are being undertaken across a wide range and age of buildings, some being relatively modern and some with English Heritage listed status. Our most recent modernisation was undertaken in a large block of flats that were built over 50 years ago, located close to Bath’s Roman Temple and Roman Baths.

In this instance, Jackson engineers undertook the modernisation of an essential passenger lift, which included the replacement of the lift controller, new lift car interior, new door operator, new car operating panel and landing signalisation. The block was fully occupied during our works, and Jackson engineers, operating from our facilities in Bristol, took great care to overcome any disruption and inconvenience to the residents during the modernisation period.

On completion, we undertook the statutory testing requirements prior to putting the lift into service, to the delight of the residents.
