Hydraulic lift modernisation at a busy leisure centre
Like many leisure centres, and particularly those located away from town centres, the Tidworth Leisure Centre in Wiltshire provides a wide range of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities for its visitors. The Leisure Centre is operated by Aspire Defence Services Ltd (ADLS) on behalf of the MoD and in partnership with Wiltshire Council and the Army Library and Information Service. It serves both the Tidworth Garrison and the local community.
Built on sloping grounds, the leisure centre requires a passenger lift to ensure easy access for its members to use the 25-metre swimming pool, two hard tennis courts, and four squash courts, which are on different levels.
This essential hydraulic lift had begun to show signs of its age, and ADSL approached Jackson for costs to modernise the lift. Our regional sales engineer, working from our Wimborne office, visited the leisure centre to undertake a detailed lift survey to identify and confirm what was needed to restore the lift to its original working condition and thus extend its lifecycle.
With the survey completed, we submitted a competitive estimate for the modernisation of the lift, which included a new lift controller, car operating panel and new door operator.
Our Wimborne team were delighted to receive confirmation from ADSL that Jackson local engineers could proceed and schedule the modernisation work. Jackson regional project managers then discussed time frames with the centre’s management, as the centre operates extended hours to 7pm during weekdays.
With schedules agreed, our local engineers undertook the modernisation work, returning the lift to full service within the agreed time frames.
